Water softeners, filtration and reverse osmosis for Yakima Valley hard water
The Nuvo Citrus Water Conditioning System, salt and saltless softeners, whole-house filtration and reverse osmosis, installed by licensed Selah plumbers.
Chapter 01
What hard water does to a Yakima Valley house
Hard water leaves a record. White crust on the faucet aerator, spots on the glass, a film in the tub, and scale building up inside the water heater where nobody sees it. Dick Burke put the Nuvo citrus water treatment system on his own welcome page for your hard water needs.
Scale is a plumbing problem, not only a cosmetic one. It narrows pipe, cakes heating elements and heat exchangers, and shortens the life of the fixtures it touches. We treat water as plumbing work because it ties into the same lines, shutoffs and drains as everything else we install.
Tell us what you see at the tap and where the water comes into the building, and we will say which of these systems fits the house.

Softeners, saltless softeners and the Nuvo Citrus system
We install the Nuvo Citrus Water Conditioning System, and we install water softeners, including saltless water softeners. They are different answers to the same hard water, which is why both sit on our list.
A conventional softener is a tank that needs feeding. A saltless softener is built to skip that routine. Which one belongs in your house depends on how you want to live with it, and that is a conversation, not a catalogue page.
Houses on a well, houses on city water and commercial kitchens do not need the same thing. Water softeners are on our commercial list too, next to boilers and tankless water heaters, so a winery or a restaurant can ask the same questions a homeowner does.
Chapter 03
Filtration and reverse osmosis, from one tap to the whole house
Healthy water starts with a good filtration system. We are here to help you install anything from a small system for crystal clear drinking water, to a large system for spring-like water for your entire house.
Reverse osmosis systems are the kitchen answer: a small system for drinking and cooking water, set up at one sink. Whole-house filtration is the larger job, because it sits where the water enters the building and treats every tap after it.
Filter housings need cartridges, and cartridges need changing, which is the aftercare on this work. You can count on us for professional advice, top quality work and comprehensive service, even after your project is complete.

Next to the heater
Water treatment and the heater on the next wall
Hot water is where hard water bills you first: scale coats the heating surfaces of tank heaters and tankless units alike. The wall-hung install in this photo, with its copper and gas lines in a utility closet, is the kind of job a softener or filter gets planned around.
We set the heater and the treatment in the same visit when the house calls for both. Read how we size and install water heaters, how the gas line behind them is handled under gas piping, and the Burke family who have done this work since December 1981.
